Hatch Web Studio ("we", "us", "our") is a web consultancy based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. This policy describes what personal information we collect through this website and our services, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Information we collect
Information you provide. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, name, and whatever information you include in your message. If you become a client, we collect the contact and billing information needed to deliver our services and invoice for them.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web server keeps standard access logs that include IP addresses, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use these logs only for security monitoring and troubleshooting. This website does not use advertising trackers and does not set cookies.
How we use your information

SMS and text messaging
Our products, including the TrekSafer trip safety service, send SMS text messages such as trip check-in reminders and emergency contact notifications. For these services:
- We collect phone numbers only when they are provided to us for the purpose of receiving these messages, with the consent of the person registering them.
- Messages are transactional service notifications. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
- You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at hadfield@hatchwebstudio.com.
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency depends on your use of the service.
Sharing of information
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to operate our services on our behalf, such as web hosting providers, email providers, and telecommunications carriers that deliver SMS messages. These providers are bound to use the information only to provide their services. We may also disclose information where required by law.
Some of our service providers are located outside of Canada, including in the United States, and information handled by them may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. Client and billing records are retained to meet tax and accounting requirements. Email correspondence is retained as part of our normal business records.
